Merrill Heslop, LCSW — San Tan Counseling Clinical Director
Merrill Heslop has spent the last 18 years working with teenage, young adults and adults. He
specializes in individual and family relationship counseling, marriage, divorce, depression,
addiction, sexual issues, and grief counseling. He does not work with young children, bipolar
disorder, or gambling addiction.
Charlie Mitchell, PhD
Dr. Mitchell started private practice in the early 1980s and before that taught psychology at Mesa
Community College. Dr. Mitchell specializes in geriatric clients, anxieties, depression, fears and
phobias, and complicated mental health issues. He does not work with children.
Chris Berry, PhD
Dr. Berry is a Clinical Psychologist practicing for over 25 years with adolescents, adults
and couples. The focus of his practice is helping the depressed, anxious and those with
co morbid medical diagnose. He counsels and advises the physically/emotionally/verbally
abused, those with anger management problems, substance abuse concerns and grief and
bereavement issues. Dr. Berry works with adolescents on issues of ADHD, self-mutilation,
eating disorders, depression and anger. He sees couples for communication problems,
relationship and sexual issues.
Dan Bernal, LCSW
Dan has a rich background of counseling and teaching for the last 20 years.
Dan shares his counseling experience with individuals, couples family therapy and works with
children 16 years and older. He specializes in depression, anxiety, trauma, abuse,
hypnotherapy, employment and school related issues, stress, substance abuse, grief and
loss, panic and phobias. Dan is bilingual, speaking English and Spanish.
Marc E. Bagnasco, LPC, NCC
Marc is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has been practicing in Arizona for the past
seven years. He works with individual adults, couples and families to improve their quality
of life by strengthening problem solving skills, improving interpersonal relationships,
managing emotions, increasing motivation for change, and overcoming past traumatic experiences
so as to live more freely in the here and now. Trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy by
The University of Chicago Hospitals as well as Marsha Linehan's Behavioral Technology Group, LLC.,
Marc specializes in the treatment of clients diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder,
eating disorders, severe anxiety disorders and traumatic abuse.
Celeste "C.C." Chervenka, LMSW
C.C. is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW). She received her Bachelor's degree in social
work from Baylor University in 2004 and a Masters degree in social work from Our Lady of the
Lake University in 2005. A member of the Phi Alpha Honor Society, C.C. earned the academic
excellence award for the academic year 2005 for earning a 4.0 in her master's degree work.
For the last six years C.C. has worked in the field of adolescent and adult psychiatry in
acute care and residential treatment centers in Texas and Arizona. Her specialties include
group therapy with adolescents and adults experiencing anger issues, domestic violence, and
substance abuse. Other experience includes working in an HIV/AIDs Hospital and American
Cancer Society Hospital.
Jared Dinehart, PhD
Dr. Dinehart is a licensed psychologist who specializes in behavioral addictions, anxiety
related disorders, anger, mood, grief, and other psychological concerns. In addition to
private outpatient services, Dr. Dinehart has served as the Clinical Director for ANASAZI
Foundation, a wilderness behavioral program for youth. He also has experience working in
higher education as a staff psychologist and disability coordinator for the University of
Alabama in Huntsville. Dr. Dinehart works best with young adults, couples, and adult
individuals.
Rachel Faraoni, MSW
Rachel V. Faraoni, Arbinger Certified Facilitator. Rachel has facilitated Arbinger seminars
for over a year in the behavioral health industry as well as in other business related fields.
She has a Masters degree in Social Work and has over 5 years experience in the behavioral
health field.
Sharon Mendenhall, LCSW
Sharon has been actively involved in counseling for the last 10 years. She is available at our
Queen Creek office. She has a diverse background working in mental health, psychiatric hospital,
residential treatment and schools. She is able to work with a broad range of patients including:
adults, couples, teens, and especially children. She is certified in trauma, cognitive behavioral
therapy, domestic violence and spiritual counseling. Her specialty is trauma and grief
counseling and behavioral problems in children. Sharon does not work with drug addiction,
eating disorders, bipolar or borderline personality disorder patients.
Julie Keith, LHT, Hypnotherapist
Julie is a hypnotherapist. She is kind, warm and wonderful. Julie is able to serve patients that
have the ability to pay for our services directly. She is available at our Apache Junction office.
She will see anyone 12 years and older. She specializes in issues of: self-esteem, weight issues,
stop smoking, addictions, pain, abuse, fears and phobias, and anxieties. She also has said that
she loves a good challenge and welcomes new and different issues! Please allow two hours for an
individual session.

Julie Jones, Office Manager
Julie works hard to keep everything in line and on track! She specializes in federal compliance
issues, billing, collections, accounting, insurance, and scheduling.
Gaylene Littleton, Insurance Specialist
Gaylene is the back bone of our support staff. She specializes in insurance benefits and spends
every day on the phone with insurance companies verifying benefits for the patients that are served
at San Tan Counseling. In addition she is able to assist patients with scheduling appointments.
