What is San Tan Counseling?
San Tan Counseling is an outpatient counseling facility. The therapists that work here are
Independent Contractors in private practices that are subcontracting business management
services here at San Tan Counseling. We provide services to a relatively high functioning
general population of clients.
What is an Independent Contractor?
San Tan Counseling helps the interested private practitioner in managing the business side of
private practice. San Tan Counseling will provide a receptionist, answer phone calls,
take demographic and client information, verify insurance benefits if needed, schedule the
patient, and do the billing and collections. It is an effort to let counselors do what
they do best — counseling!
What other benefits will I have as a Independent Contractor at San Tan Counseling?
You will have access to phone, internet service, computers, office furnishing (if needed),
San Tan Counseling staff support, phone messages, business cards, after hour coverage,
clinical staff consultation, net working meetings, regular clinical training, continuing
education hours, and opportunities for practice development.
What does San Tan Counseling consider Full Time and Part Time work?
Full time is considered 25 or more hours available for counseling appointments per week.
The staff will have an easier time filling your appointment time when there are more options.
Evening is prime time for counseling and these appointment times will fill the earliest and easiest.
Will I have flexibility in my schedule?
Yes. San Tan Counseling lets you (and San Tan Counseling staff) effectively manage your appointment
schedule using BestNotes™,
a networked EMR (electronic medical record) software package.
BestNotes™ will allow you to see time that you have set aside, and appointments
that are filled in real time. It will also allow you to change and manipulate it from any
computer that has internet access.
What else will BestNotes™ do for me?
BestNotes™, is designed
to be an all encompassing paperless clinical file management system.
Not only will it manage your schedule, but it keeps patient files, clinical and
corresponding notes. One of the nice features is that you will not have to carry files,
but can access them from any computer that has internet capability. Of course,
it is HIPAA compliant and secure.
What are the basic requirements to be in private practice at San Tan Counseling?
There are probably many things to give consideration to, but you will need to have
your appropriate professional license with full privileges to practice mental health
therapy in the State of Arizona. In addition, you will be required to have your
own malpractice liability insurance and have three years post licensure experience.
Also, you will be required to have some basic
training, both formally through Arbinger Institute, as well as informally with the
clinical director.
How does billing and collections work?
San Tan Counseling funnels its insurance billing and collections through
ConsulMED, a
full-service medical billing company in Salt Lake City, Utah. In addition there
are accounts that are billed in-house at San Tan Counseling. If you are going
to develop a private practice with insurance based referrals, you will have to
"apply" to insurance panels. It is nice to be aware that to get on enough
panels to support a private practice takes anywhere from six to nine months.
How will I get paid?
San Tan Counseling Independent Contractors receive money based on earnings. Your subcontracted
rate with San Tan Counseling will be a 60/40 percentage. 40% of your collected funds will pay
for your overhead costs. San Tan Counseling disbursement is every other Friday.
What is San Tan Counseling's relationship with Arbinger Institute?
San Tan Counseling has a mutual company relationship with The Arbinger Institute (an international
management and relationship training company). The Arbinger Institute provides management
expertise for San Tan Counseling, and San Tan Counseling provides for Arbinger a facility in
which to promote principle-based relationship training and materials for individual community
members. Please feel free to visit Arbinger Institute website!
